Class Schedule and Registration
Who may attend?
NFHTA courses are open to the public.
Is there a cost to attend?
Each course has a cost, listed on the Course Schedule.
*Agencies funded under the Fair Housing Assistance Program (FHAP) are not required to pay tuition but are responsible for all expenses associated with travel and lodging.
Check the FHAP Agency List to see if your organization is listed.
All other participants are required to make payment arrangements.
How do I pay for the course?
When registering for a course, the online registration system will provide you with payment instructions.
NFHTA accepts the following forms of payment:
- HUD 10.4 form - HUD employees
- SF-182 Training form - Federal employees
- Check, credit card, or purchase orders - all eligible participants.
Is there a difference in the online course?
The curriculum and materials are the same as for the on-site classes, but are divided up a little differently to extend throughout the month in weekly segments. There is a dedicated instructor for the course and there are readings, exercises, quizzes, and assignments, including a forum for interacting with the instructor and other students. Students are expected to work through the entire curriculum during the month, to access the site at least once a week, and to complete the course within the timeframe. We expect that the course requires approximately 8-10 hours per week, for a total amount of time similar to that which would be spent in an on-site class.
Is there a set curriculum?
Yes. The core curriculum is a 5-week certification program designed to provide fair housing enforcement staff with knowledge and skills to conduct efficient and timely investigations throughout the country.
Are there plans to expand the curriculum?
Yes. Relevant courses will be developed in consultation with FHAP, HUD FHEO, and FHIP personnel initially. Other courses will be developed in conjunction with needs and requests.
Can the Academy customize courses for a particular group?
Yes. In the future, the Academy will work in a consultative capacity to develop courses, workshops and special seminars.
